Westhorp & Associates at Engineering Guidance Event

February 25, 2011

(Miami, FL - February 25, 2011) - Westhorp & Associates' own Diana M. Santander, P.E. and Patrick D. Kaimrajh, E.I. were notably involved in the Miami-Dade Branch of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) Career Guidance Symposium.  The Branch put together this event to serve the local engineering students at Florida International Unviersity and the University of Miami during National Engineers Week.  Westhorp & Associates sponsored the Symposium and was well represented.

Ms. Santander was a member on the four-person panel representing the environmental engineering discipline. This panel represented different areas within the civil engineering industry, shared experiences as consultants and provided advice to the bright engineering students in the Miami area.

Mr. Kaimrajh, as the Branch University Relations Liaison, organized the event.  This task included the coordination between engineers and students, the design of the presentation and the creation of a guidebook which permits student to have reference material for the Symposium.

Westhorp & Associates is proud to sponsor this event and encourages these volunteer activities, as shown on our community involvement page.  To see more pictures of Westhorp representing engineering at the Career Guidance Symposium, visit our Facebook page.

I am also thinking of video on a YouTube channel for our company where we can have our experts discuss things of interest to our clients. With our company about to celebrate our 15 year anniversary, the timing could not be better”.

The objective of setting up the blog and the video channel is to establish the company as experts in the civil engineering field in the Miami area and boost the company's presence on the Internet.

Apart from its adherence to top engineering standards, Westhorp & Associates is known for a values-based approach to construction. Kicking Off...

Office Warming PartyThe first part of the year has been exciting and busy here at Westhorp & Associates, Inc.  It’s hard to believe that it has already been four months since we moved into our new space!   We celebrated on March 8th by having an enjoyable office warming party. Thanks to all our friends who joined us for the festivities!

OfficeWe don’t just talk the talk, we walk the walk!  We made our office more energy efficient by properly sealing and caulking the large gaps of the large floor to ceiling windows in our new office space, which is a modern loft.  We felt the temperature difference immediately and are also benefitting from less outside noise (we are in the trendy area of Miami called The Upper East Side). We are also working our way toward a paperless office, we estimate that our use of paper for administrative purposes is down 75% - 80%!

Movie SetTo top it all off, on April 2nd, noted Hollywood director/producer Michael Bay began filming his new movie –Pain and Gain, starring Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and Mark Wahlberg – across the street from us. When the celebrities were on-site, there were dozens of paparazzi on the street, rooftops, and in buildings trying to get a shot (ok, so one or two of us from Westhorp might have been trying too.)
